The album’s title track, This Town is a song written about a quirky little town around 20 miles east of Bozeman, MT. Some may have heard it called the windy city….no, not Chicago…it’s Livingston. This is the town I am proud to call home. This Town has been four years in the making for me and two years in the making for the band. It’s all in here. Every tune to date that I’ve written made it to the studio and onto this recording.
Before we stepped foot into the studio a wise man answered a concern I had about letting people down if I didn’t perform to the best of my abilities. He said, “Don’t let yourself down.” And I didn’t. The band and I gave this project 110% and then some. Restless nights, anxiety, tears, joy, pride, and love, all went into the making of this project. Everyone performed so well during the recording, and as Doc told us, “We caught lightening in a bottle those four days”. I am so proud of what we did, and that we did it to the best of our ability. It has been a dream-come-true.
I’ve referred to this album as “The Baby”, for in the studio we gave birth to this amazing sound. While it was being mixed, mastered and reproduced we could only visit The Baby, and desperately longed to see, hear and most of all take her home. I often caught myself daydreaming about her and I would tell Doc, “Say ‘hi’ to The Baby for me.” The day we got to hold her in our arms for the first time was a glorious one indeed. We all hope you love her too! – Ashly
